This is a follow-up posting where I will be adding 3 Hikvision cameras (all in different states) to my Hikvision NVR over my LAN or network.

In this situation, my cameras’ cables terminate in a different location than where my NVR is located. I have a PoE switch in my basement where half of my network cables are terminated for my cameras. I want to keep my NVR in the garage, let’s say, where the other half of the cameras’ cables terminate. Make sure your NVR in plugged into your network through the LAN port. Make sure your NVR is on the same subnet as your network. If not, update the IP address and gateway to match your router’s subnet. This can be done here on the SADP screen on my PC or here in the NVR on the System > Network > TCP/IP Screen. In my case they are on the same subnet and can therefore communicate.

Let’s drop these onto my LAN and figure out how to access them through the NVR. Also, I’ll be using SADP on my PC in these examples. It’s a handy tool to manage the IP address of your cameras.

That covers adding these 3 cameras to my NVR over my network. Unfortunately, Hikvision does make it a little confusing with its wording and process when trying to add cameras. I hope this video has helped clear up some of the confusion around adding cameras which are on your local network.
