How to Install a Hard Drive in a Dedicated NVR – Hikvision 7600 Series

This is a quick demo on installing a hard drive in the Hikvision 16-port NVR.

This NVR is model number DS-7616 and I am installing a Western Digital Purple 4TB drive. It was cheaper for me to purchase the hard drive separately, and install it myself later. The purple drives are made for surveillance systems and can better manage the constant writing of files.

This NVR can hold up to 2 6TB drives!!

The screws are located here on the sides and back
The cover slides back and here’s a view of the inners.
I’ll be using the SATA cables and power connectors which were supplied with the NVR. I will also use these tiny screws which were also included.
You will have to align the screw holes on the bottom of the NVR. 4 screws in total are required.
In this scenario, I am only installing the one hard disk, but you would obviously follow the exact same steps again, to add a second.
